One reason we need to say often "Thank You" in prayer is that we learn gratitude is more than a feeling. Gratitude, like all the qualities of the Heart, is prior to feelings. I often do not feel grateful. I often do not say "Thank You." The longer I live, however, the more I both feel grateful and say "Thank You" regardless of how I feel.
